Queens #866 hints and answers for Sunday, September 13, 2026

LinkedIn Queens · 9x9 grid · One queen per row, column and region · Spoiler-free until you choose otherwise

Nine queens on a 9x9 board, one in every row, column and color region, and today's solution puts one queen in a corner, the top-left. The hints below climb from the corners to the top half of the solution - take only as many as you need.

Hints, in order

Hint 0 of 4

Tap to show one hint at a time. Stop as soon as you have enough.

Hint 1 of 4

One queen sits in a corner today: the top-left.

Hint 2 of 4

The top row's queen sits in the Gray region, and the bottom row's queen sits in the Red region.

Hint 3 of 4

No two queens touch, even diagonally, so consecutive rows always jump by at least two columns - today's jumps run from 2 to 6 columns.

Hint 4 of 4

The top half of the board, rows 1 to 5, uses columns 1, 6, 2, 4, 7 in that order.

The solution

Every queen's column, row by row, with the region each queen sits in. Only tap if you are ready.

Column 1Row 1 · Gray
Column 6Row 2 · Blue
Column 2Row 3 · Purple
Column 4Row 4 · Orange
Column 7Row 5 · Green
Column 9Row 6 · Brown
Column 3Row 7 · Teal
Column 5Row 8 · Yellow
Column 8Row 9 · Red

Columns by row, 1 to 9: 1, 6, 2, 4, 7, 9, 3, 5, 8. No two queens share a row, column or region, and no two touch, not even diagonally.

How Queens works

Queens is LinkedIn's region logic puzzle. The board is carved into colored regions, and you place exactly one queen in every row, every column and every region - with no two queens touching, not even diagonally. There is always exactly one solution, and it is always reachable by logic alone. This page gives each queen's position and region; it does not draw the region map.
