Privacy policy
Clue Cache has no accounts, no sign-up forms, no comments and no checkout. We never ask for your name, email address or payment details, because the site has nothing that would need them. This page explains the small amount of data that is involved in running the site, in plain terms.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages and tools people use, in aggregate. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and records standard visit information such as the pages viewed, the type of device and browser, and an approximate location derived from your network address. We read the combined totals, not a record of what any one person did. You can block or clear these cookies in your browser settings at any time; the site works the same with them blocked.
Tools and search run on your device
The solvers, the word finder, the pattern search, the Connections Helper and the crossword clue search all run in your browser against word lists and indexes downloaded with the page. The letters, patterns and clue words you type are processed on your device and are not sent to us or stored anywhere. Revealing a hint or an answer is also handled on your device; we do not record which answers you opened.
Advertising
Clue Cache is a free site supported by display advertising. When ads are shown, third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalised advertising from Google at google.com/settings/ads, and opt out of a wider set of vendors at aboutads.info/choices. Blocking advertising cookies does not block the site's own pages or tools.
What we do not do
We do not sell personal information, because we do not collect any through this site. We do not run accounts, mailing lists or user profiles, and we do not embed social media feeds or comment systems that track you across sites. Pages do link out - to the games themselves and to sources we cite - and those sites run their own privacy policies, which apply once you leave Clue Cache.
Changes to this policy
If the site starts collecting anything new - an account system, a mailing list, a new advertising partner - this page will be updated before or as that change goes live, and the date at the top will change with it. The about page explains how the site's puzzle data is sourced and verified.
