Word Finder
You are staring at a rack of tiles that will not spell anything, with one good square open on the board. Type your letters, add the board pattern if you are playing through letters already down, and see every play you can make, ranked by score.
Your play
Type a ? or * for a blank tile, up to two. For the board pattern, type the letters already on the board and an underscore for each open square, like _A__ or QUI_. Leave the pattern blank to search your rack on its own.
How scoring works
The score counts every letter of the word at face value, board letters included: that is what the play scores before board multipliers. Letter values: A1, B3, C3, D2, E1, F4, G2, H4, I1, J8, K5, L1, M3, N1, O1, P3, Q10, R1, S1, T1, U1, V4, W4, X8, Y4, Z10. A letter played from a blank tile scores 0. A play that uses all seven tiles from your rack earns the 50-point bingo in Scrabble, and that bonus is not added here. Word and letter multipliers are not applied because they depend on the square each new tile lands on, and this tool does not know your board.
About this word list
The list is built from SCOWL, the spell-checker word lists, the same source as our other solvers. Scrabble and Words With Friends each edit their official lists by hand, so this tool can return a word your game does not accept, and it can miss a rare word your game allows. Treat the results as every plausible play, not a ruling. More word help: the anagram solver, pattern search, and the Spelling Bee solver.
