What time does Spelling Bee reset?
Spelling Bee resets at 3:00 AM Eastern Time, the same moment for every player, so a late night on the West Coast is still the previous day's hive. Clue Cache publishes its Spelling Bee hints minutes after that 3:00 AM Eastern release, every single day.
The reset time
This one is a single moment, not a local-midnight flip: when it is 3:00 AM in the Eastern zone, it is 2:00 AM Central, 1:00 AM Mountain and midnight in the Pacific zone, at the start of the same date there. A player in California solving at 11:00 PM is still on the previous day's letters.
When Clue Cache publishes: our Spelling Bee hints go up minutes after the 3:00 AM Eastern release. Our separate Bee run is timed for it, because the new hive does not exist anywhere before that release.
Questions
- Why does Spelling Bee reset later than the other games?
It simply runs on its own schedule: a fixed 3:00 AM Eastern release instead of a midnight flip. That is also why Clue Cache publishes the Bee on its own timed run, hours after the other games.
- It is past midnight and the hive has not changed. Is something wrong?
Probably not. Midnight is not the Bee's reset time. The new letters arrive at 3:00 AM Eastern, which is midnight Pacific, so West Coast players see the change right at their midnight.
- Can I keep playing yesterday's hive after the reset?
No. Once the 3:00 AM Eastern release lands, the game moves on to the new letters. Words you had not found yet in the old hive are gone with it.
